FM Bakoyannis addresses AHEPA Congress

The 86th Congress of the American Hellenic Educational and Progressive
Association (AHEPA) began in Athens on Tuesday evening with an address by
Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis. The Congress will last until July 7.
Bakoyannis welcomed the Greek American organisation, thanking it for its
efforts to disseminate the Greek spirit and its contribution towards defending
Greek national issues. "We, citizens and politicians, of metropolitan Greece
are proud of your successes. We feel moved with the strength of the
determination that you are showing for progress and prosperity," she said,
adding that "we are watching your emergence in many sectors of human activity
with satisfaction. You are the worthy ambassadors of Greek culture in the
United States, bearing the accreditations of peace and friendship between the
two peoples." The foreign minister went on to say that "with your honest
efforts you are creating a second Greece which is proud, dynamic and energetic
and that plays a leading role in the multiracial mosaic of American society."
