Newspapers Eleftheros Typos , Typos tis Kyriakis, news portal www.e-tipos.com
and City radio station will close down, after the decision taken at the
general assembly of the shareholders of the Press Institute. This
development is the outcome of the Aggelopoulou family'Αs (photo) decision to
abstain from the mass media. The general assembly decided to suspend
the operation of the newspapers and the radio station and put the
companies under their ownership into a consolidation regime. The Athens
Journalists' Union (ESHEA) has heralded a 24-hour strike.
Reactions
The government spokesman Evangelos Antonaros expressed the
government'Αs sorrow over every mass media that ceases its operation.
“Much more when it comes to a newspaper with a legacy. Each information
voice contributes to and boosts the quality of Democracy in our
country,” stressed he.

“KKE (Greek Communist Party) wants to express its solidarity with the fired journalists of newspapers Eleftheros Typos and Typos tis Kyriakis.”
It will stand by their side and their right to stable work. In any
case, KKE demands the government take measures to safeguard the
unemployment benefit for as long as they will be unemployed.”

LAOS head Georgios Karatzaferis said the following: “Those of us who
lived the dream near the Voudouri couple, those of us who associated Eleftheros Typos
paper with visions and worries, we are very sad over the news. I am
pleading its historic journalists Dimitris Rizos and Giorgos Kyrtsos
and those who are concerned to join forces, lest our newspaper should
fell to ‘foreign hands.'Α”
